Benefits in using Solar Autopilot
Better dashboarding with a fresh look
We offer tailor-made dashboards for Solar system owners with a stylish dark-mode for public displays and eye-friendly screen use.
Your data at your fingertips
Other cloud solar dashboards don't offer easy access to your data or do not sufficiently take data protection concerns into account. We instead offer easy to use export features as well as easy API integrations for CO2 offsetting partners and other project affiliates. Still, your data is stored on a local SD card. Our strict data processing terms clarify if any limited cloud data processing features are enabled and how this affects your data privacy (not required for standard features).
Alerting and Automation
We are constantly implementing new features. For the upcoming releases, we are planning to introduce extensive standard templates to optimize your standard operating processes and alertings.
Home Assistant Add-ON
How to install Solar Autopilot
Follow the steps below to use Solar Autopilot
Install Home Assistant on a device of your choice
Follow the installation guide here to install Home Assistant on your preferred platform: Home Assistant Installation guide. Make sure the board of your choice has not less than 4GB RAM.
Add Solar Autopilot to your Home Assistant setup
After successful installation of Home Assistant install our CARBONOZ Autopilot Add-On next by following the steps below.
Configure Solar Autopilot on Home Assistant
Access Home Assistant from anywhere
To remotely access your local Home Assistant device we recommend using Tailscale. It let's you access Home Assistant in just a few steps for free. Simply use your Microsoft, Google or Github Account to login and follow the steps here: Tailscale Login. After you have installed the Tailscale client on your computer and/or mobile install the Tailscale Add-On on your Home Assistant device and build the necessary trust to your Tailscale network. Once your Tailscale client is connected you can keep using Home Assistant's local IP address wherever you are.
Pre-requisits for using Solar Autopilot
Install an MQTT broker (bridge) to make your inverter data available to Home Assistant and Solar Autopilot
Add-On
The easiest way to share your inverter data is to install an MQTT broker on another hardware, since a lot of Solar inverters don't support direct MQTT. Here you require a second hardware to get the job done.We recommend using Solar Assistant by following the Installation Instructions and MQTT setup instructions here. Solar Assistant supports a wide range of inverters and batteries via USB to Serial cable and runs on a budget-conscious Raspberry Pi 3 or higher.
I have my MQTT broker (bridge) running. What happens now?
Configure Mosquito Broker in Home Assistant with the following steps to allow Solar Autopilot to connect to your MQTT broker: MQTT Setup in Home Assistant. This allows Solar Autopilot Add-On to consume your performance data and connects Home Assistant to your inverter as well to use other useful features from Home Assistant related to your inverters.
Planned in upcoming releases
Enhanced automation features
Enhanced alerting features
Redex CO2 offsetting integration
MODBUS support
Hardware and wireless platform to simplify inverter connection
